Cult watches: Pay your respects at the temple of time

‘Cult’ is an emotive word. And it has several meanings. It could be argued that by conferring the adjective “cult” on a watch, it could become an “icon”.

I consider a Rolex wristwatch a cult timepiece. But has it in turn become an icon for a certain kind of purchaser? Lust after its ownership has, after all, made it the most faked watch wherever one goes – from ports to pubs.
