Miliband defends stance on torture case

Britain will refrain from mounting a “lobbying campaign” to convince Barack Obama to publish evidence relating to the alleged torture of a British resident, David Miliband said on Thursday.

The UK foreign secretary told the Commons that releasing secret US documents on the treatment of the Guantánamo detainee would cause “real and significant damage to the national security” of the UK.
