BSkyB acts fast to sell ITV stake

British Sky Broadcasting on Monday night extricated itself from its controversial investment in ITV when it placed 404m shares with Morgan Stanley at 48.5p per share.

The company made a cash loss of £349m on its stake, which it had been ordered to divest by the government and successive courts of appeal in the course of a three-year legal battle.
