Israel accused over telecoms project

Palestinian leaders and businessmen have accused Israel of holding up the launch of a second mobile phone provider in the West Bank. They have warned that a further delay to the landmark private-sector project will discourage much-needed foreign investment.

The dispute centres on an Israeli commitment – brokered in May last year by Tony Blair, the Middle East envoy – to release additional radio frequencies to the Palestinian Authority.
