Products backed by Lehman spark FSA probe

The £35bn ($52bn) market for selling structured investment products to retail investors is to be investigated by the City watchdog following a series of complaints to the Financial Ombudsman.

The Financial Services Authority said on Thursday that it had begun looking into how the products were marketed and sold to consumers after about 80 investors had complained about products they had bought that were backed by a guarantee from Lehman Brothers, the failed US investment bank.
