Conflict of interest dilemma

Traditional asset managers extending their business into the hedge fund world face a number of contentious problems, including a need to explain apparent conflicts of interest to their clients.

To guard against their top talent leaving for the more exciting and supposedly more rewarding field of hedge fund management, investment managers have been launching their own hedged products, according to Boston-based research firm Cerulli Associates.
