A-Level results show regional divide

Children in the south gained better A-levels than their northern counterparts – and the regional divide applies to private as well as state schools.

The finding, announced as this year’s results were published, highlights the gap in educational attainment between the richer and poorer parts of Britain, regardless of whether or not parents paid fees for their offspring.
