The new chief executive of Roche has embraced a broadening of the Swiss pharmaceutical group’s focus from hospital-based medicines to primary care treatments, provided they offer significantly greater benefits than existing drugs.
In one of his first interviews since taking over in April, Severin Schwan said his appointment marked continuity with Roche’s past strategy, while adding: “I believe less in this question of hospital versus primary care. Our strategy is true medical differentiation.”
