The Short View: Stagflation

What exactly are we scared of? Developed world economies face negative pressure from falling house prices and the squeeze on credit. Both should choke off inflation. They also face pressure from high energy prices. These have the potential to inflict stagflation – raising inflation while reducing growth.

In the US, the weak dollar could import inflation.
