US gains from nuclear competition

A company that had a US monopoly on producing the electric utilities' fuel of the future, USEC, is facing a brownout that could turn pretty black. When I wrote about the former United States Enrichment Corporation back in June 2006, its stock price was more than $11 a share.

Today, even as the uranium business looks forward to a long revival, the stock is changing hands for a little over $5 per share.
