Barclays downgrade strikes sterling

Sterling erased some of last week’s strong gains on Monday as a credit rating agency downgrade for Barclays, one of the UK’s largest banks, damaged the currency.

Moody’s lowered Barclays’ rating, saying it expected “significant further losses” on credit-related writedowns.
