Chinese baby milk victims can bring lawsuits

Victims of last year’s tainted baby milk scandal in China will be allowed to seek redress in court, a senior judicial official has announced. Local courts previously refused to accept such lawsuits; China’s Supreme People’s Court said they would now be accepted. 

At least six infants died and 300,000 fell ill after drinking milk powder contaminated by the industrial chemical melamine, used by suppliers to cloak the dilution of milk content.
