Hedge funds endured their worst first half in almost two decades this year, with the average fund declining 0.75 per cent to the end of June but still outperforming broader market indices.
According to the HFRI index from Chicago-based Hedge Fund Research, the average fund was down 0.68 per cent in June, having been up by more than 1.5 per cent in both the months of April and May.
