Notes let slip fears of house prices collapse

A drop in house prices of 10 per cent or more this year is realistic, according to the government’s own assessment, which slipped out by accident on Tuesday.

Caroline Flint, the housing minister, raised the spectre of a property crash when her briefing notes for the morning cabinet meeting at 10 Downing Street were captured on camera and read by reporters.
