A US “shock jock” has threatened legal action against Jacqui Smith, the home secretary, after she named him on a list of 16 people banned from the UK for “stirring up hatred”.

Michael Weiner, known as Michael Savage, has also called on the 8m-10m listeners to his controversial show, which is syndicated to about 100 US radio stations, to “cancel trips to England and stop buying English goods, if they make anything anymore”.
