IPOs: Companies rethink plans

Before the credit squeeze hit in August, many bankers were predicting a bumper season of initial public offerings, particularly from emerging market companies.

But the turmoil has forced some companies to rethink their plans. Russia’s UC Rusal, the world’s largest aluminium producer, blamed market conditions when it said last month that it was delaying an initial public offering that could have raised $7.5bn in the London market.
