Low debts reduce risk in emerging markets

Investors may feel that buying into emerging markets or private equity in the current climate would be too risky. So the idea of combining the two sectors may not be met with enthusiasm.

But investment advisers say the medium to long-term prospects for emerging market private equity funds are looking fairly bright. Typically, private equity investments in Asian, Russian or South American markets are less reliant on debt and are geared to more straightforward business growth opportunities.
