Farm protests challenge Argentine resolve

Several thousand protesters took to the streets of Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires on Tuesday night after President Cristina Fernandez refused to back down on a tax rise that has sparked a two-week strike by farmers.

For the second day running, paramilitary riot police were deployed to ease passage for buses and cars.
