Indonesia raises interest rate to 9.25%

JAKARTA, Sept 4 - Indonesia’s central bank raised its key interest rate on Thursday by 25 basis points to 9.25 per cent, the fifth increase in 2008 although analysts say it may be the last this year as inflation has probably peaked.

Ten of 16 analysts polled by Reuters had expected the central bank, Bank Indonesia (BI), to raise its overnight policy rate by 25 basis points to 9.25 per cent. Six predicted no change.
