MPs to spend over £1m on visits overseas

Commons committees will spend more than £1m this year on overseas visits as they seek inspiration in countries including South Africa, Peru, Brazil and New Zealand.

The 29 “fact finding missions”, which are expected to cost up to £70,000 a trip, are part of investigations into matters ranging from patient safety to the “role of the prison officer”.
