McCain vows nuclear arms cut

John McCain on Tuesday vowed to make significant cuts in the US nuclear arsenal if elected president and called for Russia and China to join a fresh global effort to tackle nuclear proliferation.

The Republican presidential candidate set out a series of measures aimed at increasing international co-operation over non-proliferation, saying the world faced no greater threat than the spread of atomic weapons.
