Labour puts on show of unity

Votes for 16-year-olds and backing for a fully elected House of Lords were among a raft of policies endorsed on Sunday by Labour’s National Policy Forum, as the party put on a show of unity at the end of three days of talks in Coventry.

Trade unions expressed themselves content with the outcome of talks, which included new proposals on flexible working and the extension of the minimum wage, even though their calls for measures to make it easier to strike were rejected.
