Gold tops $900 on back of haven search

Gold smashed through the $900 level Monday, leading a rally for precious metals, while corn and wheat prices rose by daily trading limits, continuing the positive tone set by Friday’s market update from the US Department of Agriculture.

Gold rose 1.4 per cent to $907.80 a troy ounce after setting a record $914 earlier in the session, helped by renewed dollar weakness and haven buying.
