Australia reports robust retail and trade data

Australia, which is yet to technically enter recession based on consecutive quarters of GDP contraction, on Wednesday reported robust retail sales and trade figures.

The country recorded a trade surplus of A$2.5bn in March, one of the highest on record, helped by a 10 per cent rise in rural exports and a third successive monthly decline in imports.
