Demand for Halloween products and early Christmas shopping buoyed sales at the John Lewis Partnership, writes Tino Andresen.

Total sales in its third quarter rose 9 per cent, with sales at the group's department stores increasing 4.1 per cent, and by 12.4 per cent at its Waitrose grocery stores.
