Low & Bonar, the specialist materials group, said on Monday that sales for the second half of the year were broadly in line with its expectations in spite of remaining well below last year’s levels.

The group, which manufactures specialist materials for carpet tiles, road surfaces and architectural awnings, said that cost reduction actions undertaken early in the year and lower raw material prices continued to mitigate the impact of lower volumes on profits.
