Pakistan said on Tuesday it would lay landmines and put up fences along parts of its border with Afghanistan in response to international concerns that Taliban militants can slip between the two countries with ease.
In the past, the Afghan government has opposed plans to fence or mine the 2,400km border, saying it would limit the freedom of movement of Pushtun tribespeople who live on both sides of the border but who have ethnic and linguistic ties.
