Apple launches iTunes mobile phone

Apple yesterday announced the much-anticipated breakthrough of its music download service into the mobile phone world with the introduction of a Motorola iTunes handset.

Steve Jobs, chief executive, told a media event in San Francisco the $250 phone would hold 100 songs and would be sold exclusively in the US by Cingular Wireless, the biggest mobile operator.
