Smoking ban proves a drag for bingo operators

Bingo operators have emerged as the biggest losers from Scotland's ban on smoking in public places such as pubs, clubs and restaurants.

Publicans led the campaign against the ban, which started in March and will be followed by a similar ban for England and Wales next summer. But most of the bigger pub groups have felt little effect from the ban, with some outlets recording higher sales.
