GPL commune will eventually have to grow up

From Mr Tony Healy.

Sir, James Boyle is touchingly naive in his rebuttal of Richard Epstein’s piece on open source software (21 October 2004). He claims that IBM’s embrace of Linux is an endorsement of the General Public Licence, but seems not to be aware that IBM has ulterior motives for backing Linux. It is seeking to steal Microsoft’s desktop markets and build consulting revenue. Neither of those goals depends on the integrity of the GPL licence.
