Nothing suffered more during the global market crash of 2008 than the emerging markets.
By the end of last month, emerging markets stocks had fallen 63 per cent since they peaked on Halloween 2007, having been down as much as 70 per cent at one point. No region had gone unscathed, although eastern Europe, down 74.6 per cent over that period, according to the MSCI indices, had fared notably worse than the rest.
