Rural women twice as likely to form start-ups

The rigours of country living do more to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit among women than the buzz of the city, according to a new study of female start-up activity.

Statistical analysis of interviews with more than 25,000 adults by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor at London Business School found that rural women were almost twice as likely to start businesses as those living in urban centres.
