Eric Nicoli, EMI chief executive, is leaving with more than £3m, it emerged on Wednesday, as Terra Firma gave the first indications of its plans once it takes the music company private next month.

The private equity company told Mr Nicoli on Tuesday that it would be replacing him as part of a broader management shake-up. Martin Stewart, EMI chief financial officer, has already left the company, it emerged on Wednesday.
