Cameron plans quango cull

David Cameron has pledged a cull of 790-plus quangos but offered only one example of a body that a Conservative government would axe.

The Tory leader mounted a strong rhetorical attack on the “growth of the quango state”, asserting that the rise of such quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations had created a “serious accountability problem with our political system”.
