Wellstream warns over contracts

Shares in Wellstream Holdings slipped more than 10 per cent on Thursday after the oil and gas pipeline manufacturer cautioned contract awards had been slower than expected and forecast little upturn until next year.

Gordon Chapman, chief executive of the Newcastle-based group, said earnings would likely only be slightly ahead of depressed first-half figures, which were below analysts’ expectations.
