The French government is hoping to nominate foreign directors to the board of EDF as it prepares to name Henri Proglio, head of Veolia Environnement, as the state-controlled nuclear group’s new chief.

Directors are expected to rubber-stamp Mr Proglio’s nomination when they meet late on Sunday night, ending weeks of speculation over the management of the world’s biggest nuclear operator.
