Pathetic excuse for intervention

Published: December 23 2008 02:00 | Last updated: December 23 2008 02:00

Sir, I am puzzled as to why the taxpayer, rather than Jaguar Land Rover’s parent, India’s Tata Group, should suddenly ride to its rescue. Surely preserving the “high-tech research base” (“Pressure for UK car lifeline”, December 20) that has succeeded in developing expensive gas-guzzlers cannot be a credible reason for saving Jaguar Land Rover. It is a pathetic excuse for intervention.
