GlaxoSmithKline, the pharmaceutical group, on Monday received the first approval by European regulators for a vaccine designed to provide protection against a future flu pandemic.

The European Commission on Monday approved the recommendation from European Medicines Agency (Emea) specialists to authorise GSK’s Prepandrix, providing extra assurances for governments seeking to build up stockpiles ahead of a pandemic.
