The charm bracelet – that chunky chain festooned with a host of hanging trinkets, all meant to be full of happy remembrances – has long since made its return to fashion. But anyone who has succumbed to the trend, knows well that however charming they may be they are also impractical.

Still, their return has re-ignited a desire in jewellery for items to carry a sentiment that goes beyond the act of mere giving, so that pieces come imbued with meaning in their very existence. It is jewellery with a message.
