Where Darwinian laws evaporate

The benefits of free markets are well-known and much trumpeted by those who work in financial services. But it does seem odd that one sector of the financial services industry - fund management - seems immune to free market disciplines.

Fund management looks from the outside like a classically Darwinian enterprise. The results of the operators can be measured down to the smallest fraction of a percentage point.
