Ships have been warned to steer clear of an area between the Seychelles and Kenya after pirates seized a German-owned container ship over the weekend in a surge of activity that has seen at least one other sizeable ship taken.
The European Union's maritime security centre warned vessels to stay at least 100 nautical miles away from an area 400 miles offshore between Kenya and the Seychelles where the container ship was seized.
