Plan to axe FSA spurs crime warning

A nascent crackdown on white-collar crime could be derailed by the Conservative party’s plan to abolish the Financial Services Authority, City lawyers have warned.

The Tories’ Plan for Sound Banking, outlined on Monday, fails to spell out which regulator would be given responsibility for prosecuting offences such as insider trading and market abuse if the FSA is scrapped.
