Britain appeals for unified Iraqi government

Britain’s foreign secretary, Jack Straw, during a visit to Baghdad on Tuesday appealed for “a government of national unity” in Iraq.

His call comes amid growing fears that the prime minister-designate, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, will be unable to broker a compromise between Shia, Sunni Arab and Kurdish politicians to form a government within the next three months.
