Shares in John Menzies rose more than 24 per cent on Wednesday after demand for air travel and new contracts for newspaper delivery boosted underlying profits at the aviation services and news distribution company

The news distribution division, which contributes 70 per cent of overall revenue, saw turnover fall 2 per cent to £573m, although underlying operating profit rose due to £4.3m in cost savings.
