Strike threat to power and petrol plants

Trade unions have called a strike ballot over pay and the use of foreign labour that could disrupt work at power stations, petrochemical plants and gas terminals this summer.

Unite and the GMB are to ballot up to 30,000 workers on official industrial action after talks with the engineering construction employers failed to resolve issues that have provoked repeated wildcat strikes and walkouts at sites around the country.
