Once it was oilmen and companies selling consumer goods and services that flocked to post-Soviet Russia. Now it is engineers, bridge-builders and construction groups.

The wave of oil and gas revenues that has flooded into Russia has provided it with the wherewithal, at last, to start rebuilding its crumbling roads, railways and airports – and to start developing ambitious projects to expand its infrastructure.
