Central Eastern Europe: Watershed year for region

Accession to the European Union has revolutionised the way that outside investors see central and eastern Europe. “We are no longer viewed as an emerging market - that in itself is a huge boost for private equity in the region,” says Steven Buckley, managing partner at Innova Capital.

The market is still small - only €7bn has been raised for private equity funds in the region to date, according to the European Venture Capital Association, EVCA.
