Attacks on gypsies worries Hungary PM

Verbal attacks on gypsies, Jews and gays are becoming an “everyday occurrence” in Hungary, the prime minister has warned.

“It’s not happening at the top level, but in the second tier, [prejudicial language] is becoming everyday, and it is outrageous. In fact it makes me sick. It’s one step away from saying they’re all criminals, and the next step is to say they leach away our nation’s lifeblood.” The final step in the chain would be “to put people’s ethnic belonging in their identity documents”, he warned.
