Lonmin unveils shake-up as production falls

Ian Farmer, new chief executive of Lonmin on Tuesday sought to address the failings that made the platinum mining group as he unveiled plans to close uneconomic mines and slash spending.

Unveiling a review of the business after his first six weeks in charge, Mr Farmer acknowledged the harsh criticism of the group that led to an unsolicited £5bn takeover approach from Xstrata earlier this year.
