Health service IT suppliers 'struggling'

Hospitals and family doctors should be allowed to choose from a wider range of suppliers to deliver the National Health Service's new patient record system, a report by a public spending watchdog said yesterday.

BT, CSC and Fujitsu, the current suppliers, hold £5bn worth of contracts but were "clearly struggling to deliver", the Commons public accounts committee said.
